Y-Strainer Installation

The Y-type filter is usually installed at the inlet end of the pressure-reducing valve, pressure relief valve, positioning water level valve, or other equipment to remove impurities in the medium to protect the normal use of the valve and equipment. 

Installation of the Y-strainer 
Before installing the filter, carefully clean the threaded connection surfaces of all pipes, and use pipe sealant or Teflon tape (Teflon) in moderation. End threads are left untreated to avoid allowing sealant or Teflon tape to enter the piping system. Filters can be installed horizontally or vertically downwards.
When installing 1-1/4″ (DN32) or larger socket weld filters or all D series filters, it should be noted that the gaskets on these filters are non-metallic and are easily damaged by overheating. Therefore, the welding time should be shortened and the filter should be cooled after welding. If preheating is required before welding or continued heating after welding (D series filter), it is recommended to remove the gasket before heating. Operation and maintenance of the filter After the system has been working for a period of time (generally no more than one week), it should be cleaned to remove the impurities and dirt accumulated on the wedge wire filter screen during the initial operation of the system. After that, regular cleaning is required. The number of cleanings depends on the working conditions. If the filter does not have a drain plug, remove the filter stopper and filter when cleaning the filter. 
Note: Before each maintenance and cleaning, the filter should be isolated from the pressurized system. After cleaning, use a new gasket when reinstalling.
