Self Cleaning Strainer

Self-cleaning Y strainer HydroRed-ZS is often used in the pipeline transportation process. It can filter and eliminate impurities in the pipeline. Therefore, it can effectively protect the normal work and operation of equipment, pumps, valves, and instruments on the pipeline.

How to choose the right self-cleaning Y strainer?

Inlet and outlet: In principle, the inlet and outlet diameter of the self-cleaning strainer should not be smaller than the inlet diameter of the matching pump. Generally speaking, it is the same diameter as the inlet pipe.
Nominal pressure: Determine the pressure rating of the filter according to the higher pressure that may occur in the filter line.
Filtration accuracy: Refers to the particle size of impurities to be intercepted and the process requirements of the media process.
Material: The material of self-cleaning strainer is generally the same as the material of the connected process pipeline. Consider choosing a filter made of cast iron, carbon steel, low alloy steel, or stainless steel.
Calculation of resistance loss: For water filters, under the generally calculated rated flow rate, the pressure loss is 0.52 – 1.2kp.

Installation and Use

  • When installing and using, please pay attention to the protection of the control box, sensors, and transmission parts to prevent damage.
  • Connect the pipes according to the direction of the arrow on the HydroRed-ZS filter body. Make the water flow direction consistent with the arrow square on the body.
  • This series of self-cleaning strainers is available in two installation styles: vertical or horizontal.
  • No matter which installation method is chosen, the outlet direction of the automatic drain valve should be horizontal or downward. To ensure more complete sewage discharge.                                                                                
  • The conventional installation location is in front of the water-using equipment and as close as possible to the water-using equipment.  
  • The connection methods of the drain valve are divided into flange and thread. The sewage pipe should not be too long, no more than 10 meters.  
  • When the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet pressure gauges reaches 0.5kg, it will automatically enter the cleaning process. Then open the drain valve to drain the sewage until the pressure difference is normal.
  • In the self-cleaning process, there is no need to disassemble the pipe body and it does not affect the normal operation of the equipment. 
  • Flushing and draining can work at full flow. It not only maintains a high flow rate of the system but also has a very low-pressure drop. This eliminates surface stains caused by low flow rates.
  • The inner scraper uses inorganic materials. Good elasticity, high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and aging performance.
