The emulsion pump station is the power equipment that provides emulsion for the hydraulic support of the fully mechanized mining face. In addition, it is also the power source of the hydraulic support system, which requires perfect control and high-quality filtration system.
Due to the harsh environment of the coal mining face, coal and rock dust particles are easy to invade. The emulsion is seriously polluted, which aggravates the wear of hydraulic support columns, valves and other components. The working performance of the bracket will be deteriorated and the service life will be shortened.
According to statistics, up to 80% of hydraulic system failures in various types of hydraulic equipment are caused by medium contamination. The same is true for hydraulic support failures caused by emulsion contamination. Therefore, filtering the emulsion and controlling the contamination of the emulsion have become one of the key issues to fully utilize the effectiveness of the hydraulic support. To this end, we have developed the HydroPro-RHA series of self-cleaning filters.

Introduction to Emulsion Self-Cleaning Filter

The hydraulic support self-cleaning filtration system has its particularities compared with ordinary hydraulic transmission filtration systems. The working medium used in the hydraulic support is flame-retardant emulsion, and its hydraulic system has the characteristics of high pressure large flow, and large pressure fluctuations.
Given these two characteristics, the filter elements of the self-cleaning filtration system are required to have high-pressure and large-flow characteristics. And the filter element has impact resistance. Most currently used filters are installed directly on the hydraulic system pipeline. This type of filter has a small flow capacity and a too-fine mesh. The mesh is easily blocked and the hydraulic components are easily damaged. Moreover, the pressure difference on both sides of the filter is too large, which increases the frequency of maintenance and component replacement.

Due to the particularity of the underground coal mine environment, the emulsion used is seriously polluted. If you use ordinary filtration methods, you need to frequently disassemble the filter to clean or replace the filter element. The underground environment cannot meet the conditions for cleaning the filter element. The operation must be stopped to disassemble and clean or replace the filter element, which increases the maintenance workload and is time-consuming and labor-intensive.

Moreover, the leakage of emulsion increases, and the overall economic benefit decreases. Therefore, the HydroPro-RHA series of self-cleaning filters is very suitable.


Self-cleaning filters are divided into suction-type self-cleaning filters, brush (scrape)-type self-cleaning filters, and backwash-type self-cleaning filters according to the dirt-cleaning method. At present, the backwash self-cleaning filter that has a better application effect is the backwash type self-cleaning filter. The existing high-pressure filtration self-cleaning system is divided into two types: manual operation and automatic cleaning.

Although manual operation can complete self-cleaning, there are many uncertainties and poor stability in manual operation. As for automatic control of self-cleaning, most at home and abroad currently use PLC control. Although its filtration effect is good, it is expensive, has a complex internal structure, high cost, and has no obvious economic benefits.

HydroPro-RHA Self-Cleaning Filter Guide

The existing self-cleaning filter system is connected in series in the hydraulic system of the hydraulic support. The inlet is connected to the emulsion pump station, and the outlet is connected to the hydraulic support of the working surface. When the self-cleaning filter system fails, the entire hydraulic system will not work properly. The self-cleaning filter of the HydroPro-RHA series is a bypass system independent of the hydraulic support system.

The emulsion is filtered with high precision before entering the support’s hydraulic system. It reduces the large impact on the filter element due to large pressure fluctuations in the hydraulic system, which is beneficial to the protection of the filter element. And because it is a bypass filter, even if the filter system fails, it will not affect the normal operation of the hydraulic support.

The HydroPro-RHA series self-cleaning filter is a relatively independent set of self-cleaning filtration devices. It can complete the functions of filtration and cleaning at the same time. It can realize both automated control and manual operation.
