HydroPro-NMS Filter for Citric Acid Filtration

Citric acid, at room temperature, is colorless translucent crystals or white particles or white crystalline powder. Odorless, extremely sour, and slightly deliquescent in humid air. It can exist in anhydrous or monohydrate form. It is an organic acid widely used in the food, medicine, and chemical industries. With the development of the economy, the demand for citric acid in various industries will rise steadily.
However, in the existing technology, most citric acid fermentation devices can only perform a single fermentation process on raw materials. Filtration cannot be performed after the fermentation reaction. Moreover, most fermentation reaction devices do not ferment thoroughly enough and react quickly enough. Greatly reduces the production rate of citric acid.

Why use HydroPro-NMS self-cleaning filters?

Most existing filtration devices filter waste residue in citric acid fermentation broth through filter plates. After long-term use, a large amount of waste residue will accumulate on the filter plate and block the filter plate. Affects the filtration speed and filtration effect, so a cleaning process is required. Remove waste residue from the filter plate. However, most of them are now operated manually, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and low in efficiency. It reduces the convenience during the use of the filter device.
Secondly, waste residue will clog the filter holes. This affects the filtration speed and filtration efficiency, requiring a flushing process. However, shortcomings such as long manual flushing time, low flushing efficiency, and poor flushing cleanliness increase the difficulty of device maintenance.

Citric acid wastewater treatment

The production process of citric acid mainly includes saccharification, fermentation, extraction, and refining. The following are the main sources of citric acid wastewater.

  • Saccharify and wash the filter cloth with water. Contains starch, protein, cellulose, corn fat, sodium ions, etc.
  • The sewage produced by cleaning the filter cloth contains citric acid, residual sugar, protein, and vitamins.
  • Brush the can with water. Use clean water to wash the fermenter before the next feed. The resulting brush can water contains citric acid, residual sugar, protein, vitamins, polyethers, etc.
  • Concentrated sugar water. Contains residual sugar, oil, lipoprotein, trace amounts of sodium salt, polyether and organic pigments, etc.
  • Wash with sugar water. Use hot water to further wash away residual sugar. Contains citric acid, calcium citrate, residual sugar, oil, protein, inorganic calcium, organic pigments, etc.
  • Sand column flush water. In the refining process, the sand column is removed from the sand filter. Sand column flushing water contains calcium sulfate, citric acid, and other solids that form filter cakes.
  • Ion exchange light acid water. Contains citric acid, iron, calcium, chloride, and other ions, as well as broken anion and yang resin. When processing this process, you can use a resin trap filter.
  • Carbon column waste alkali water. Regenerate the adsorbent carbon column weekly with an aqueous solution. The water discharged from regeneration contains citric acid, salt, and organic pigments.
  • Yang column waste acid water comes. The acidolysis solution from the carbon column contains citric acid, metal ions, etc.
  • Waste ammonia water from the negative column, and acidolysis solution from the positive column.
