There are many types of cartridge-type river water filters, but these filters all have many problems. There was a lot of traffic at the beginning of use, but as time went on, the traffic became less and less.
The reason is that during filtration, debris adheres to the outer surface of the filter layer, blocking the passage of water. As time goes by, there is more and more debris, the resistance is getting bigger and bigger, and the water output is getting less and less. To keep the filter water flowing smoothly, it is usually cleaned manually.
Generally, disassemble the filter, take out the filter element, and clean it with clean water or compressed air. Then put it back into the filter and use it again. Cleaning the filter of this structure is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and may cause water outage for a long time. Therefore, it is not possible to operate at maximum flow all the time.

For this reason, we developed the HydroPro-HQS self-cleaning filter. An online self-cleaning process can be performed. Working principle: 

  • River water enters the HydroPro-HQS filter through the water inlet. The purified water flows out from the water outlet through the water reservoir.
  • Debris adheres to the outer surface of the filter layer. 
  • Close the water inlet and water reservoir outlet switches. Open the drain valve and the water reservoir vent switch, and input compressed air.
  • The clean water and compressed air in the water reservoir pass through the filter layer in opposite directions. Brush away the debris attached to the surface of the filter layer and remove it through the sewage outlet. This keeps the filter layer clean and ensures that the HydroPro-HQS filter always works at maximum flow.

HydroPro-HQS Self-Cleaning Filter Guide

The water quality of the river determines the frequency of the self-cleaning process. The water quality also determines the slot size of the self-cleaning screen.

Main structure

Self cleaning screen: Use a large diameter wedge wire screen. The main material is stainless steel 304, 316 or 316L. The general filtration precision is above 30 microns.

Clean the structure of the accessories. There are two types, using a scraper or a suction component. Scrapers are very common in self-cleaning filters. The sewage suction assembly includes sewage suction pipes and supporting parts. Driven by the transmission mechanism, it performs rotation and axial movement. Combined with the length of the filter screen, scan the entire filter element. This allows for complete self-cleaning. The nylon cleaning suction head prevents damage to the internal support frame of the filter element.

Transmission structure. To ensure the reliable operation of the cleaning mechanism, we use electric motors for driving. The transmission mechanism includes a transmission mechanism bracket, transmission shaft, transmission threaded rod, transmission nut, gearbox motor, and other parts. Transmission mechanism bracket is a welded structure and is located on the end cover of the filter cylinder.
The transmission mechanism mounting seat is welded, and the transmission shaft and the transmission threaded rod are connected through a pin. There is a travel switch gear in the middle. The drive threaded rod screws into the drive nut in the middle of the bracket. There is a motor-driven worm gear transmission on the transmission mechanism bracket. One end of the transmission screw extends into the hole of the worm gear transmission mechanism.

Automatic control device

The automatic control device includes a differential pressure transmitter, controller, electromagnetic drain valve, and travel switch. Both ends of the differential pressure transmitter are connected to the water inlet and outlet respectively. The controller is connected to the electromagnetic drain valve, transmission motor, and travel switch through wires. When the pressure difference between the water inlet and the water outlet reaches the set value, the pressure difference transmitter sends an electrical signal. The controller then controls the actuator. At the same time, it also has the function of displaying the differential pressure value and overtime alarm. The following are three ways of automatic control:

  • Differential pressure method. When the internal and external pressure difference exceeds the set value, the differential pressure transmitter sends a signal to the control system. The filter starts cleaning automatically. After finishing a trip, end cleaning. The cleaning mechanism returns to its original position.
  • Timing mode. Set the self-cleaning time according to the media conditions and production needs. Complete self-cleaning at scheduled intervals.
  • Click mode. Press the jog button and the filter completes a self-cleaning. This method is flexible and convenient depending on the specific work situation.
